After all the fun of making those Gene Marshall bags, I decided that it would be really fun to make something for a couple of our American Girl dolls, too. My Josefina is just waiting for us to get a little spare time . . . then she is going to under-go a transformation . . . in other words, modernization! She is going to get some new clothes, shoes and a re-done braid. Well, she needs some accessories to go with that, right?! Lizzy and I thought it would be really cute to dress a couple of our dolls up for a trip to Disney World, so I looked up outfits for ideas. People have some really cute options for outfits on places like Etsy, and there is even a really great online tutorial for making your own doll-sized Mickey Mouse ears! I've got to try that! What there doesn't seem to be is any sort of set of Disney World themed accessories for American Girl dolls. So, I thought I'd make some for Josefina. In the end, these are all modeled in the photos by Elizabeth's modernized Kaya doll, but Josefina has a set, too! (Poor Kaya has very loose strings, so she has to spend a lot of her time sitting down right now.) Lots of pictures below to show the whole souvenir set. I'd like to eventually add a pin trading lanyard and a little plush Mickey (hopefully from a keychain). |
Here are the signatures in the book (some shown at right): Mickey and Minnie Donald and Daisy Pluto and Goofy Chip and Dale Snow White and Dopey Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore Cinderella and Suzy Mouse Robin Hood, Maid Marian and the Sheriff Anna and Elsa Peter Pan, Wendy, Tinker Bell Captain Hook and Mr. Smee Ariel Mulan Jiminy Cricket Alice in Wonderland and the White Rabbit Belle Jasmine and Aladdin Woody and Buzz Lightyear Princess Tiana Pocahontas and John Smith Mary Poppins Aurora and Prince Philip Merida Lilo and Stitch | |
I also wanted one of the resort maps for the little souvenir set . . . the problem came in trying to decide which resort Josefina would choose. Grand Floridian hosts the huge Easter Egg display, so that seemed like a good choice. That was, until I saw the map for Pop Century. It's so colorful and cute that Josefina can't decide where to stay. Anyway, I printed all kinds of resort maps in her size, so she and her friends have a lot of choices now!
More later.
