Elizabeth and I had come up with the fun idea of making a pair of dolls named for two very special relatives (I believe they are cousins, but with Cuban families it gets confusing sometimes!) on Dad's side of the family. They have these little dogs that look exactly like Coconut and Sugar, so when we realized that the dolls could even have the matching pets . . . well, it was too good to pass. Zaida (pronouced Zie-duh) is from Cuba and has a little white dog named Valentino (called Vale). Bessy is from the Honduras and has a little Yorkie named Gigi.
In the meantime, I was working on cleaning my #28, and Elizabeth was getting it re-strung. While all of this was going on, I went online and ordered a pair of Coconut pajamas which came in a fabulous deal including the poseable doll-sized Coconut. Now Zaida had Valentino and matching pajamas! Another amazing Buy-It-Now came on eBay, and I got a Coconut short-sleeved shirt, Coconut long-sleeved shirt, Coconut doll-sized key chain and two Coconut grin pins. Wow!
Here are some before and after pics. The one shows the dolls with a #62 wig as Pip. The second picture shows her now, with a Kemper Tyler dark brown wig as Zaida.
