Going to the Flea Market and a Real B-24 Liberator

Wow! A whole month has gone by since I put up an entry. I can't believe that time has flown by that quickly. Yikes! Plenty has been happening around here. In the end, due to several reasons, we weren't able to go to Florida last week. Dad was able to fly down very quickly over the weekend and go to Clemente's party, but back home by Tuesday.

Let's see . . . remembering what has happened in the past month is really something! A B-24 Liberator (WWII Bomber) has been touring Ohio, so we were able to go to that. Really cool! We got to take all kinds of photos, go up into the plane and even watch it take-off, fly around and land. This is the kind of plane that Elizabeth's "Boys" were flying in Alaska, so we were pretty keen to get up close to one and see what it was like. Amazing!

Elizabeth and I had our birthday. We wanted to go up to the Flea Market for that, so we spent most of the day there . . . and hit a couple of garage sales on the way home. Of course, we stopped at the store and got some chocolate ice-cream to bring home --- not to mention having a Frozen Mocha at Panera in the afternoon! We found some really amazing things, and everything that we were really hoping to find. I think God made it one of the best birthdays ever! I found the most fabulous large skunk decoration. I have quite a lot of these as the miniature figurines, but we've never seen one this size. I'm wacky about skunks!

I've been working on making all kinds of doll bodies (trying to get ahead of Elizabeth!), so we have a lot of projects to work on over the Summer. Had to put in the entry info for the State Fair, so Elrond will soon be official! I'm in the middle of another doll right now (another Hobbit-themed one for Elizabeth), and that is coming along very quickly. No spoiling it in advance, though, so you will just have to wait for finished photos to find out what it is. ;)

The yard is coming along nicely. Everything has really grown a ton. My Honeysuckle managed to perk up and survive the Winter, so I'm very happy. It has gotten hot here for the last several days, so I did some weeding --- but only in the shade. I just don't know how thistles manage to grow so large in such a short time. Well, I better get going. More later.

Happy Birthday, Nelson Eddy!

Well, Nelson Eddy would have been 113 years old today! He is one of my two very favorite singers (Bing Crosby being the other!). My favorite of his "solo" pictures (being any film without Jeanette MacDonald) is "Let Freedom Ring". If you haven't seen that one . . . well, you should!

Lots has been going on around here, but I have been spending literally no time on the computer. Okay, so we did load Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, and we've spent a couple of afternoons playing that! But not much more than that, so I am way behind on blogging and updating.

It is very hot here, but we just keep having rain and storms. Can't imagine that it will be a banner year for crops and gardens. Well, I better go off and post a real update to follow this!

For you Jesus Christ came into the world. For you he lived and showed God’s love. For you he suffered the darkness of Calvary and cried at the last, ‘It is accomplished.’ For you he triumphed over death and rose to new life. For you he reigns at God’s right hand. All this he did for you, though you do not know it yet.

I often think of Bag End. I miss my books, and my armchair, and my garden. You see, that's where I belong. That's home. That's why I came back, because you don't have one. A home. It was taken from you. But I will help you take it back if I can.

The future is to be read with certainty only in the past. Man never changes.
    PRIDE & PREJUDICE:

A lady's imagination is very rapid; it jumps from admiration to love, from love to matrimony, in a moment.

    KING GEORGE VI

"His conduct on the Throne may well be a model & a guide to constitutional sovereigns throughout the world today & also in future generations."

"For 15 years George VI was King. Never at any moment in all the perplexities at home & abroad, in public or in private, did he fail in his duties."
