I finished another needle-felted doll last week! This makes the 27th doll that I have actually finished. The last one was Thorin Oakenshield from The Hobbit. Thorin was lonely for a real pal, so we decided to make Bilbo next. Elizabeth and I have decided to make the whole company of dwarves, but it didn't seem right to make all the dwarves without the Hobbit --- so, here is Bilbo! Bilbo is dressed in his final travel costume as seen at the end of The Battle of the Five Armies. He is wearing his gold-colored Shire pants and olive-green vest (sporting the only gold button not lost in the goblin tunnels). He has a taupe-colored neck scarf with shiny "mithril" thread in it, grey fingerless gloves and a blue wool coat with tan and cream-colored wool trim. Elizabeth made his belt and backpack out of real leather --- all hand sewn! She even made working buckles for both the belt and backpack, and the backpack opens to hold a blue glass bottle (found at Laketown), a bag of coins (found in Erebor), his paper map and contract, and a leather red book. The red book is not finished yet, so pictures of Bilbo's souvenirs will come later! |
Bilbo and Thorin are going to the State Fair at the end of this month, so photos of them on display will follow in a few weeks. In the meantime, here is a photo of the two happy friends standing together!
